Wyoming trip No. 7

Back out to the bunkhouse for my seventh trip, once again with my dad. This year we added two first timers, Alex and Jack. It was Bubba’s third time out, second with a tag since he came last year to help photograph the elk hunt.

Weather was a little too nice and warm. Whitetail numbers felt down compared to past years, while mule deer and elk sightings were up. We still had a solid run.

Alex tagged his first buck on the evening of day one. I took a great mule deer the evening of day two. Jack got his first mule deer the morning of day three, and Kevin wrapped it up with a nice whitetail that afternoon. Bubba put in the work and had chances, just never got the shot he wanted this time.

We spotted a pile of elk, so an elk hunt might be on deck soon. Came home with meat, good photos, and better stories. Big thanks to Rod and Wanda for treating us like family and letting us spend time on their incredible place. Already looking forward to the next one.
