An unsuccessful draw changed the plan, but preference points kept Alex's Wyoming dream moving forward.
The 2024 trip was meant to be special. An opening in the group created a chance for Alex, who became an American citizen in 2022, to join the annual Wyoming deer hunt.
The crew applied through the Wyoming Game and Fish Department and waited for the June 18 draw. For the first time since 2016, the application was unsuccessful.
The result delayed Alex's Wyoming hunt, but it did not end the plan. Purchasing another preference point put the group in a much stronger position for the following year. Sometimes hunt planning is its own exercise in patience.
